About us
My name is Ellen Eeftens, and as you've probably guessed I'm a real animal lover, and in particular a Japanese Chin enthusiast. I mean, what is not to love about these little furry creatures..... Hahaha, all dogs (and animals for that matter) have their charmes, but as with most people one breed really stole my heart.....and that's the Chin.

My uncle, Aunt, Mom, Dad....and me
Up till a while ago I lived in Nijmegen, where I spend most of my college-years. I'm still in college, but since I only have to do the writing parts for my BA and MA (the fun parts so to speak.....ahum) I decided to move back home with my parents, Louis and Sjanny, and sister, Wilna. And home is in Born, a village in the province Limburg.

Me and my sister, New York, 2003
Born is situated in a beautiful surrounding, forest and nature close by. I don't think I even need to mention how often we take the dogs out there for long walks..... it's really beautiful.
Our love for dogs, and over the last years, our love for Japanese Chins, made my parents decide to start up their own kennel, Shimo Japanese Chins. The name Shimo was formed by taking letters from the names of two dogs, one of our dogs and one of the person we used to have the kennel with. It's always nice to have a personal touch! And this year I got my wish: my own kennel!
We keep our dogs in our home, so they're basically always with us; they've also got free access to the garden.
The health of our Chins is very important to us, so they are checked regularly. We take them to our vet, but if something's up we take them to a specialist in Sleeuwijk, dr Strikker (link on link-page).
Every now and then we have a litter of pups, something we enjoy very much. Seeing those little rascals grow up is something beautiful, and it is hard every time we have to let one go.....but knowing they'll go to a good home makes it better. That's why we insist people visit us and the pups several times so we can really get to know each other.
Breeding in a good manner is very important to us, so we breed according to the rules of the Dutch Pekingees- en Dwergspaniel Club and the Dutch Kennel Club (Raad van Beheer). We are members of:
Pekingees en Dwergspaniel Club
The Belgische Club der Akita's en aanverwante
hondenrassen
The Kynologen Vereniging Waalwijk
The Internationalen Club e.V. fur Japan-Chin, Peking-
Palasthunde und King Charles Spaniel
Japanese Chin Club of America
Japanese Chin Club of the UK
